The Himalaya chain of mountains is the source of many big rivers in Asia. Hundreds of millions of farmers depend on its water.
Deforestation and hundreds of big dam and tunnel projects ruin the natural flow of the water. Springs and streams are drying up. The
Himalayas, its rivers, its forests and villages are in danger.
The documentary Himalayan Waters - problems and solutions gives you a quick overview of the water problems. But it also exhibits the beauty of this mighty mountain area. It shows how villagers and their local organizations struggle against hydro power projects and deforestation and for safe drinking water; to protect their life and save the Himalayas.
The documentary is made by Meghatithi, and produced by Himalaya Seva Sangh.
